In 1973, just out of college, with ink still wet on his photography diploma and hands still wet from developing portraits in the darkroom, John started as a full time news photographer in South San Francisco. He moved to Washington in 1979, and eventually shot weddings for Yen Lui Studios. That led to opening his freelance photo business. He specialized in architectural and location work in Seattle and on the East Side, and he continues that work even today.
A burning desire for visual creativity drives him to constantly push his imagination. He’s learned about computers and visual applications on his own. During the last 10 years he has taken up web design and development, multimedia production, and lately, video production.
His greatest passion is spending time in nature, whether taking pictures or not. That’s where, he tells us, his soul really feels at home.
