SNORKELING
About half of the guests that visit Baja Outpost come to snorkel. The snorkeling is so wonderfull especially between June to November when visibility reaches 100 plus feet. However, we offer snorkeling trips yearound. All the reefs that we travel to scuba dive in, are perfect for snorkeling as well. The majority of the marine life in the Sea of Cortez is found in the shallower depth up to 50 feet.
In addition to our regular snorkeling trips, we offer special snorkeling trips such as: Snorkeling with Sea Lions, Dolphins, and Mantas. Our trips are suitable to children and to senior citizens alike. Typically we visit 2 to 3 different reefs in one day.
The white sandy beaches with torquoise waters found at the islands of Loreto National Marine Park, are among the most beautifull beaches found anywhere.
The boat follows the snorkelers about 50 feet away, so that one can climb back to the boat whenever a rest is needed. For the last comfortable in the water, we will provide a live vest to ensure safety.
We offer basic instruction and our divemasters and captains are always very attentive to each individual need, especially those needing phisycal help getting off and back into the boats.
WHAT TO SEE?
The majority of the sea life found around Loreto is present throughout the year, however, some species are mostly found during certain months. From our experience, we have seen many of the species during their off season. During the middle of Summer, we run into 2 Blue Whales that came within 15 feet from our boat. Based on our experience, every day we stand a good chance to have a surprise. Throughout the year we have a permanent presence of more than 200 species of tropical fish. The following table will help you understand when is most probable to find specific species

TEMPERATURE & VISIBILITY
The temperature and visibility changes from 92 degrees during the summer, to 70 degrees winter. Despite these changes, the average visibility is not always the same at all sites. We dive different sites facing North, West, South, and East. We monitor the wind constantly, always looking for the day best dive site. No matter where the wind is coming from, we are guaranteed to dive. During the warmer months, we can dive without a wet-suit (bathing suit or shorts and t-shirt). During the winter months, we recommend diving with a wet-suit. However, we have seen many brave Northwest and Canadian divers diving in the heart of winter with nothing but a bathing suit.
The table below will show you the average temperatures throughout the year.
